National Poetry Month

Well, it’s that time again, National Poetry Month!

Last year, my best friend and prose author J. Mahogany, challenged me to write a poem a day.  I accepted and what resulted was about four or five really good pieces of prose.  (If you missed last year’s challenge, please go check it out.)  This year, we’re at it again.  I’m going to be posting some of the (good) stuff I write, and, as an added bonus, some of the really great stuff I get to read by other writer friends of mine who are doing the same.  It should make for pretty interesting posts this month!

Do you write poetry?  I’d love to see it!  Send it to me at info@raynettastocks.com.  You never know; you could see your work on a future post!

In the meantime, I’ll leave you with my first poem, a haiku, (and one of the first I’ve written since third grade):

Springtime
In pretty springtime
My heart blooms like a flower
When you leave it dies.
